Across Africa, the Draw the Line mobilisation sent a message the world cannot ignore: Africa demands climate justice. From Lagos to Nairobi, Cape Town to Dakar, people came together to call for fairness, equality, and an end to systems that exploit communities.

As the G20 meets in Johannesburg, the People’s Summit for Global Economic Justice offers a platform for communities to bring their voices to the table.

From 20–22 November at Constitution Hill, the 99% will gather to turn outrage into action and solidarity into power.

The 99%

The 99% are workers, farmers, youth, women, and communities whose labour keeps societies alive. They are teachers devoted to the next generation, despite a lack of resources, nurses and doctors caring for patients in dilapidated hospitals, and  the youth dreaming of green jobs but inheriting debt and a climate crisis.  They face unpaid labour, polluted air, and political exclusion. These are the heroes of this story: diverse, resilient, and discovering the strength of their collective voice.

The 1%

Opposite the 99% stand the 1%: corporations, financial institutions, and political elites who hoard wealth and dictate policy.

They are not shadowy villains but the architects of a system built on centuries of extraction and exploitation. While communities struggle with crises and shortages, they thrive, capturing shared resources for their private gain and using debt to maintain their advantage.

This system isn’t broken; it was built this way. A small elite remains in control of the world’s wealth, shaping economies that put profit over people and the planet. Debt, inequality, and the climate crisis are mere features of this system.

The People’s Summit, Powered by the 99%

The People’s Summit for Global Economic Justice is where these stories converge. From 20–22 November, movements, unions, youth, and communities from around the world come together to unite the 99%. Together, we’ll demand debt Justice, Fair Finance and Climate Justice.

This is more than a summit; it’s a turning point —a moment for the 99% to reclaim its power and its future.

We drew the line. Now, we take what’s ours.
