Premiere of “The Renewable Charge”- A New Film on Grassroots Renewable Energy Advocacy in Ghana

Africa — As the push for a just transition to renewable energy gains momentum globally, 350Africa.org and 350 GROC are set to release a documentary spotlighting a powerful community-led and centered renewable advocacy campaign in Ghana. The “Renewable Energy for communities – RE4C ” campaign blossomed from successful grassroots efforts to oppose a coal project in Ekumfi, into a formidable campaign promoting renewable energy solutions among communities and advocating for greater renewable energy ambition in Ghana. The documentary highlights the resilience and triumphs of communities pushing for the transition towards a sustainable and equitable energy future in Ghana.

The release will take place as the world commemorates Solar Appreciation Day. This annual event raises awareness about the benefits of solar energy. Following the release of the film, 350 G-ROC and partners will also hold community screenings of the film and distribute solar bulbs to community members. Key stakeholders from the renewable energy sector in Ghana will be in attendance at the community screenings, providing opportunities for further dialogue and engagement. Journalists are invited to cover the events.
