200 palm trees, orange trees and Tamarindus Indica were planted by school children. The palm is a forest tree used to prepare the roof of local houses, brooms, and ropes, so cultivating them stops the local people from taking them out of the National Park Masoala and Makira. The 200 seedlings were bought 25 km East of Maroansetra, and transported via Pirogue to Maoansetra for planting.
