On September 2, civil society organisations organised under the Life After Coal campaign and the Fair Finance Coalition of Southern Africa wrote to the Presidential Climate Finance Task Team (PCFTT) for the second time calling to participate in and give input to the Just Energy Transition Partnership Deal. Our demand to participate arises from elevated concern about the lack of information about the JETP being made public by the PCFTT.

“Please indicate whether the Presidency and the PCFTT commits to transparency in
respect of the negotiation process, including transparency in relation to any obligations and
conditions proposed for South Africa as between the IPG and any institutions (including
Development Finance Institutions and Multilateral Development Banks) that will participate in
the JETP deal or any other climate finance deals.”
